Punched Edged Easel Card Tutorial - by Lexie

Hi everyone!

As promised, today we are starting with our weekly tutorials and I'm kicking off with my Punched Edged Easel Card Tutorial.  These cards are so easy to make and so pretty but you do need to make sure you get the punching just right...

Square Lacy Easel Card.

1.  Cut out two pieces of card, one measuring 5" x 5" and the other measuring 9.25" (roughly) by 5".  The 5" measurements do have to be accurate so that the Martha Stewart Around the Page Punches work properly.

2.  Using the Martha Stewart Around the Page punch of your choice, cut out all 4 corners of the square piece of card and 2 of the corners on one of the narrow ends.  Then continue down the sides as shown in the picture below.

3.  Now, with the long piece of card, score and crease 5" along from the lacy end and then 7.5 " from the lacy end.

4.  Now, neatly trim away the lace from the sides of the short flap up to the crease so that you are left with a straight edged flap.

5.  Fold this flap over and apply pinflair glue.  This allows you to slide the other piece of card around to get the perfect positioning.

6.  Fold the card in half so that the lacy edge of the base is facing towards you, and then place the 5x5 lacy edged card on top of the pinflair and slide it into position so that it matches up perfectly with the lacy end of the longer piece of card. (NB. in the picture below it doesn't look perfectly lined up as the card has raised slightly, but when pressed flat it is completely matched up).

7.  Voila!  The perfect lacy edged easel card base.

I have used a beautiful topper and paper from Joanna Sheen's One Summer's Day CD to make the base into a card.  The 'Just Because...' sentiment is from Dovecraft's Curiosity Corner Sentiment Stamp Set and the flowers are from Scribble and Scrap Crafts' Little Flower Pack (white). The gorgeous blue pearl brads are from The Hobby House.  They will be in stock shortly.  I colour picked from the topper to print out the perfect colour card for the matting layer.

I hope you like my Joanna Sheen, Punched Edged Easel.  It is so easy to do, so go and have a try.

Take care and happy crafting!

    1. Hi Sweetie. You could do it with a Cameo easily enough. Just a little bit of welding involved if you have a nice, lacy cutting file. And you can do it with dies as well...
